Welcome to my mini-collection ‘Nature’s Tan Lines’.
I painted slowly with this, albeit refined, collection of artworks turned sarongs, in an attempt to find my wild.
It’s been a big year for us all. The loss of our freedom to move about, to have uncertainty floating over us like a noisy storm.
Concurrently, for the past 6 months I have been growing my first baby in my womb. I have used painting as my tool to process the demands of this tumultuous year, it’s alteration of what ‘living’ means to me, combined with the expanding experience of growing life.
Each piece before you has aided in deepening my understanding of the effects of ‘marks’ made on one’s own journey of life, strengthening the conclusion that we don’t visit nature. We are nature.
The magic of the sun and the earth, the ocean and river waters may have felt like they have left you for a time. But perhaps if I can invite you to utilise these paintings, visualise wrapping them over you, to strengthen the intensity of your relationship with mother nature and reconnect you to the little things.
I suggest you use your sarong as a tool, to come back to the earth, to yourself, to your history.
I work in very minimal numbers, so place yourself an order to secure a piece of Mirador. One that will last you years to come.
Enjoy.
Love, Lauren
